Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using BooksTuner, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please stop using the service. The service is operated by Дементьев Александр Ильич (INN: 245730878052).

2. What the Service Does

BooksTuner allows you to:

  • Convert ebook files between FB2, EPUB, and PDF formats
  • Edit ebook metadata (title, author, series, cover, and other fields)
  • Search for cover images via Google Books and Open Library
  • Send the processed file to an email address of your choice (e.g., your Kindle address)
  • Process multiple files at once (batch mode)

Basic features are available without an account. An account is required to send files to Kindle and to purchase token packages.

3. Accounts

Sign-in is handled via a magic link sent to your email address. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must not share your account or allow others to use it.

You may delete your account at any time from the account settings page.

4. Token Balance and Usage Limits

Each book processing operation (conversion or metadata save) consumes one token. All users receive a free daily quota that resets every 24 hours. Additional tokens can be purchased as packages (paid feature).

  • Purchased tokens are credited to your account balance immediately after payment.
  • Purchased tokens do not expire.
  • Free daily quota tokens are not carried over to the next day.
  • Purchased tokens are spent before free daily quota tokens.

5. Payments and Refunds

Payments for token packages are processed by YooKassa (JSC National Payment Corporation). We do not store your payment card details.

Token packages are digital goods. Once tokens are credited to your account, the purchase is considered fulfilled and is non-refundable, except in cases where a technical error prevented tokens from being credited. In that case, contact us at bookstuner.opposing446@passinbox.com within 14 days of purchase.

6. Your Responsibilities

You may only upload files that you own or have the right to process. The service is intended for personal use — converting books you legitimately own for use on your own devices.

You must not use the service to:

  • Upload or distribute content you do not have the right to copy or modify
  • Provide the service's output to third parties in a way that infringes copyright
  • Circumvent digital rights management (DRM) protections
  • Attempt to bypass usage limits or abuse the service
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms.

7. Data Handling and Privacy

How we collect, store, and use your data is described in our Privacy Policy. Key points:

  • Uploaded files are deleted automatically within 15 minutes.
  • Account data (name, email, photo) is stored while your account is active.
  • We use a session cookie strictly necessary for authentication.
  • We use Umami for anonymous, cookie-free analytics hosted on our server.

8. Third-Party Services

BooksTuner integrates with the following third-party services:

  • YooKassa — for payment processing.
  • Resend — for email delivery of processed files.
  • Google Books API — for cover image search.
  • Open Library (Internet Archive) — additional cover image source.
  • Amazon Kindle — if you send a file to a Kindle address, delivery is subject to Amazon's Terms of Service. BooksTuner is not affiliated with Amazon.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

  • Accuracy or completeness of metadata or conversion results
  • Successful delivery of emails
  • Continuous or error-free availability of the service
  • That conversion output will meet specific quality or compatibility requirements

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service operator shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the service, including data loss or errors in converted files.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
