1. Data Controller

2. What Data We Collect and Why
Uploaded files
Files you upload are stored temporarily on our server solely to perform the requested conversion or metadata editing. They are deleted automatically when your session expires (within 15 minutes).
Account data
When you create an account, we store your email address. This data is used to identify you within the service and link your saved preferences and token balance to your account.
Kindle email address
If you choose to save your Kindle email address in account settings, it is stored in our database and associated with your account to pre-fill the send form. You can delete it at any time from your account page.
Payment data
Payments are processed by YooKassa (JSC National Payment Corporation). We do not receive or store your card details. After a successful payment, we record the transaction ID and the number of tokens credited to your account balance. Payment records are retained as required by applicable accounting and tax law.
IP address
Your IP address is used for rate limiting and daily usage quota tracking. It is stored in memory (Redis) with a 24-hour rolling window and is not linked to any personal identity.
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool hosted on our own server. It collects anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, country, browser, device type) without using cookies and without storing any personally identifiable information.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
- Contract performance — file processing, conversion, and sending to Kindle (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Contract performance — account management and payment processing (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Legitimate interest — IP-based rate limiting to protect service availability (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Legal obligation — retention of payment records as required by tax law (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
4. Data Retention
- Uploaded files and session data — deleted automatically within 15 minutes.
- Account data (email) — stored while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Saved Kindle email — stored until you remove it from your account.
- Token balance and payment records — retained as required by applicable accounting and tax law (typically 5 years).
- IP addresses — held in Redis with a 24-hour rolling window, then discarded automatically.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
We use a session cookie (set by NextAuth.js) that is strictly necessary to keep you signed in. Without it, the authentication feature cannot function.
Theme and language preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage and are never transmitted to the server.
6. Third-Party Services
- YooKassa — operated by JSC National Payment Corporation (Russia). Used for payment processing. Subject to YooKassa's privacy policy.
- Google Books API — used to search for cover images when you initiate a search. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Open Library (Internet Archive) — used as an additional source of cover images. Subject to their privacy policy.
- Resend — email delivery service operated by Resend Inc. (USA). Used to send converted files to the email address you specify. Resend processes the message content and recipient address in transit. Subject to Resend's Privacy Policy.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — request that inaccurate data be corrected.
- Erasure — request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Restriction — request that we restrict processing of your data.
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest.

8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
