Why metadata matters
Kindle displays the cover and author name on the home screen and in your library. Downloaded ebooks often have inconsistent metadata: author names in different formats across books, missing or low-quality covers, wrong series order. Fixing this before sending makes your library easier to navigate.
What metadata you can edit
- Title — as shown on the Kindle home screen and library
- Author(s) — Kindle groups books by author; add each person separately and press Enter
- Series and number — sets the reading order within a series
- Cover — upload your own image (JPEG, PNG, WebP, up to 5 MB) or search automatically by title
- Language, year, publisher — optional fields for additional organisation
How to edit in BooksTuner
- Go to BooksTuner and upload your EPUB, FB2, or PDF file
- The metadata editor opens automatically after upload
- Change the fields you need — leave the rest empty to keep the original values
- For FB2 files, check the "Convert to EPUB" checkbox if you want to change the format
- Click "Next" to process and download the updated file
Cover tips
Kindle shows covers at a small size, so a clear image matters more than fine detail. For best results:
- Minimum 600×800 px, JPEG format
- Aspect ratio around 2:3 (standard book proportions)
- Avoid covers with small text — it won't be readable at thumbnail size
BooksTuner can search for a cover automatically — click "Find cover" and it will look up the book by title. You can also upload your own image if you have a better version.
Batch editing
Need to fix metadata on several books at once? The batch mode processes up to 5 files in one session. Upload all files, edit each one separately, then download everything as a ZIP archive or send all books to Kindle in one go.
